Meet Our Founder, Dr. Sharon Clayman, PsyD
I'm A Clinical Psychologist With 20 Years Experience In The Field Of Mental Health.
I’ve worked with virtually all ages and clinical issues and been trained in many modalities. My professional journey has led me to more experiential work and learning to get more at the core of issues, rather than focusing on symptoms. I love the work I do and I feel such gratitude to be deeply invited to join people on their journey to becoming better selves.
I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Vermont with a double major in Psychology and French. I earned my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) at the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology because of the rigor and clinical focus of the program.
I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the counseling center and then went on to gain experience with two Postdoctoral Programs; one working with individuals with severe OCD at The Obsessive Disorders Clinical Institute at Mclean Hospital in Boston and the other working with college students at Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
After my post-doctoral year I worked at The Hospital Of Central Connecticut as a Health Psychologist, offering groups pertaining to health eating and assessments for Bariatric surgery, participating on a Palliative Care team, and consulting with Infectious Disease. I then took about 6 months to teach English in Costa Rica! A few years after returning I discovered Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Natural Processing (NP) and I haven’t looked back. I have seen changes with my clients with these approaches that I had never witnessed before through the approaches that I was using earlier and I was hooked. I love offer life-changing work to people who are experiencing distress and want so much to improve the quality of their lives and be their best selves.
I have received a lot of advanced training over the years on these process-oriented approaches and I place a high value on continuing my education as a clinician to stay connected with emerging trends. I am now an Approved EMDR Consultant. I am enthusiastic about being able to offer both individual and group EMDR consultation to other therapists.
Much of my caseload includes individuals with complex trauma with dissociation, but I also love working with other individuals with a variety of other issues and helping people chart of course of treatment that is going to help them lead fuller, more present, more fulfilling lives, with more compassion for themselves.
On a personal note, I’m a mom of two, an exercise enthusiast, a sunshine worshiper, and a lover of all things travel, which allows me to learn about new places and people. I also speak both French and Spanish fluently and can offer therapy in both languages.

Seeking therapy is an act of courage, strength, and a willingness to grow. Sometimes we reach a point where we know something needs to change, but figuring out where to begin can feel overwhelming. Therapy can provide a space to slow down, better understand yourself, and begin making meaningful changes in your relationships and everyday life.
At Becoming You, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we can explore patterns that may no longer be serving you, develop healthier ways of coping, and work through past experiences, current stressors, and concerns about the future. I believe that greater self-awareness, compassion, and understanding can help you move toward becoming the person you want to be.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with training and experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I also have extensive experience supporting individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns. My approach is compassionate and collaborative, recognizing that every person comes to therapy with their own experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University, where I studied Sociology and Marketing, and later earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Prior to Becoming You, I worked in an intensive outpatient setting providing mental health and substance use treatment to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.

Seeking out a therapist is a big step, and I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to begin. Whether you’re navigating life changes, managing stress, healing from past experiences, or seeking clarity for your next chapter, you deserve a safe space to feel heard, understood, and empowered.
I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker with master’s degrees in Social Work and Criminal Justice. My experience includes outpatient mental health, addiction recovery, and supporting individuals in the justice system. I’ve worked with teens finding their place in the world and adults rebuilding after hardship, always through client-centered, trauma-informed care.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and integrate somatic therapy techniques to help clients reconnect with their bodies, release stored stress, and feel grounded.
I believe therapy should feel like a genuine, respectful conversation. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you build resilience, find new perspectives, and create meaningful shifts in your life. I look forward to connecting with you!

She loves dedicating her career to adolescents and young adults/adults. Kelly has a passion for helping people overcome struggles in their life. There is nothing more rewarding to her than watching people turn their lives around for the better, and being a part of that journey. Kelly’s philosophy is all about creating a safe space for her clients to develop the skills and tools they need for each experience they have. She is a firm believer of providing an empathetic approach that allows her clients to feel seen and heard. She knows how important it is to build a rapport and feel understood which is why it is so important to her to create that with her clients. Kelly has experience using CBT and DBT practices and EMDR. She is dedicated to always educating herself further in different methods of treatment because she knows everyone is different and prefers different forms of therapy. Other than being a social worker, Kelly is a very kind, curious, optimistic, active and loving person and loved of animals.
Overall, Kelly exhibits a natural kind and warm aura. She is dedicated and passionate about her work and always wants to learn more so she can provide her clients with the best possible care. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Becoming You, Center for Transformation. I work with adults who struggle moving beyond troubling memories from the past, or feeling like they don’t know who they are beyond their pain. I also work with people who may think ending their own lives is the only solution to ending their pain. I help people surpass the pain of their memories, feel whole rather than empty or scattered, and move past the feeling that their loved ones would be better off without them.
Since 2009, I have worked in the helping professions. I’ve worked as a crisis counselor with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and suicidal crises. I’ve also guided middle aged and geriatric adults through various life phases that help people feel a sense of purpose when their core identity feels lost. In addition, I’ve worked in various leadership roles in community development, behavioral health compliance and legal affairs, and medical practice management.

I love my job because I love helping people. I am very compassionate and I am very good at listening to people who are in need. I always try my best to fit them in with which clinician I feel will best meet their needs.
